Aloha....and welcome to my personal website.

Some may ask the question...why a personal website?  The answer is...because I live in Hawaii and I like to keep all my family, friends, and clients up to date with what is going on in my life.

It's easy for them to click to my site and see new photos and read my latest blog.

Yes...I am Bill Waldman "THE" photographer...so if you are thinking of becoming one of my new clients and found this website that's great.  It will better help you understand just who I really am.

So once again I bid you welcome...please stick around for the show...and come back soon.

As a professional photographer I couldn't think of a better place to live than the Big Island of Hawaii.

I came to the Big Island on vacation to photograph the Kilauea Volcano and felt so naturally at ease here that I vowed to make a home here right then and there.   I live in Mountain View which is about 20 miles down the mountain from the Volcanoes National  Park and just about 10 miles from the town of Kea'au.

The most amazing things about this island are the geographical diversity, wildlife, and flora.

The Big Island is made up of 5 volcanoes.....two of them Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea rise up over 13,000feet above sea level.  Of course when measured from the bottom of the sea they are the two tallest mountains in the world...far bigger than mount Everest.

Because of these high mountain peaks we actually get snow here on the Big Island each winter.

Pam and I try to get up there a couple of times a year to take the dogs for a nice play day in the snow...and of course we bring the cameras and get some great shots.

From the peaks of the great volcanic mountains to the edge of the sea, the climate matches every known place on, Earth except of course for the North and South Poles.  This tremendous diversity of climate means that anything and everything introduced here can find a nitch environment and thrive.  Many invasive species are now growing so fast that the native spieces are slowly being wiped out and the island habitat is changing.

As for the history of the people's of Hawaii...what an incredible story that is.  Far too complex to cover it all here but let's just say that the Big Island is a mystical magical place where the spirit of the Earth can be felt first hand.  If your heart and mind are open to a mystical experience you will certainly find it here...I know I have.  The ancient myths and legends of the Hawaiian natives are meant to inform and educate the children...but I know from experience that some of these old stories have roots in fact and in truth.  The Liabrary at the University of Hawaii in Hilo has a Hawaiian reference section set aside for anyone that wants to research the mystical history of this magic place. I highly recommend you pay it a visit and give yourself an education into the living stories of this land.
